Independent Testing. Honest Results.
We are not here to sell you anything. We are here to tell you, as clearly as the evidence allows, what’s worth keeping in your routine and what isn’t.
About Us
Skin science, explained simply.
The American Institute of Skin Science is an independent consumer magazine that tests beauty and personal care products the way people actually buy them. Everything we evaluate is purchased anonymously at retail — the same drugstore shelves, the same Sephora and Ulta Beauty counters, the same Target and Amazon.com listings available to any shopper. We accept no free samples and run no sponsored rankings. Our conclusions are ours alone, reviewed by a small committee of dermatologists and scientists, and written plainly for readers across the United States who want to know what holds up before they spend money on it.

When a reader calls something their holy grail, we want to know if the claim holds up after the third wear.
